9th ANNUAL,
FREEDOM FESTIVAL
LONG BEACH'S ORIGINAL CLEAN & SOBER
 OUTDOOR CONCERT

History: "A Clean & Sober Music Festival"

The Freedom Festival is Long Beach’s original clean & sober outdoor concert. The live concert is a celebration of life without alcohol, drugs, or any mind-altering substance or addictive behaviors. This all day event is meant to be an affordable festival for individuals and families in recovery, whether they have 1 day of sobriety or 50 years.

The 2004, 2005 & 2006 Freedom Festival was offered in mid-July at the historic Veterans Stadium, site of the 1960 AA World Convention.  In 2007, the Freedom Festival moved to a new earlier date and a new venue.  The date for the 2012 Freedom Festival is June 10, 2012 and will return to  the Long Beach Police Officer’s Academy Park (P.O.A. Park), located at 7390 Carson Street and Academy Way.  At the north end of Long Beach’s famous El Dorado Park

The musical guest artists, the Board of Directors and Committee members all donate their time and varied talents to the Freedom Festival free of charge. The all day concert has been inspired by such world class artists as Robert Lucas (Canned Heat), Maggie Mayall, Joe Wood, Joe Houston, Arthur Lee Hooker, Robin Kirmssé, Denny Seiwell (Wings), Cadillac Tramps, Chuck Alvarez,  The Step Sisters & The Stone Carvers, Wax Apples, The Golords, There Go I, Eddie Watkins, Jr., Choyce Band, just to name a few.

Freedom Festival is a non-profit organization established to convey the message that fun and enjoyment are a true part of clean and sober living, and that there are many resources available to the recovering community and their family members, friends and co-workers. The primary purpose of the Festival is to provide an affordable one-day family music and arts celebration in a secure, clean & sober venue. Revenues in excess of expenses incurred necessary to stage this event are donated to local recovery related facilities.

The Freedom Festival has been established as a non-profit organization under Code Section §501c(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code, and is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board is composed of people from all lifestyles including music business professionals and individuals who are active members of 12-Step Fellowship programs, including Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Overeaters Anonymous (OA), and Al-Anon. Volunteers working with the Board and Committee Members help make this celebration a success.
